When I was younger I use to show
Hunter/Jumper, but after moving to Florida I had to sell my horses and I had a
hard time finding time getting back into riding. 10 years later I found myself in a good time
in my life ready to buy a horse, not for showing but to fill the void I was
missing. After finding my potential new
horse it was time to find a boarding facility.
This turned out to be harder than finding my new horse. I called 10 different boarding facilities
trying to find the right new home. If I
got a call back they were only interested in people who were going to
show. And they required board plus
either training or lessons every week.
So on top of the average board for $550 they were requiring $200+ for
extra fees. When I toured a few barns
there barns were overcrowded and their pastures/pattocks were sand pits. I was starting to panic. Here I was suppose to buy my horse in two
weeks and I had no place to board him.
Then I found Sommersby Farms!
They welcomed any type of boarder.
You could be a partial boarder or full.
You didn’t have to take lessons or training, though it is offered if
needed. And their price was better than
anyone I spoke to. When I did my tour I
met the owner Katrine Zorn and she was amazing!
She was friendly and knowledgeable.
Their barn is the perfect size and all of their pastures are full of
grass. I knew I found the perfect
barn. We have now been there 5 months
and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
Everyone at the barn is so nice and are willing to lend a hand. I not only found a barn for my horse. I found a horse family! Thank you Sommersby Farms!

I adopted
my Thoroughbred from a rescue organization.
His first owners dumped him in the woods and he was found when he was
only skin and bones. The rescue brought
him back to health, did some training with him, and adopted him to a young
girl. After three years with the girl
they had to seize him back. She was over
zealous about showing and took all her frustrations out on the horse. He was at the point of being unrideable. I found him after being at the rescue for
three months. When I brought him to
Sommersby Farms he was a defeated horse.
He cowered in the back of the stall and only came forward when it was
time for feeding. Trying to do any type
of lunge work just brought frustration to both sides. That is when Katrine Zorn Sommersby Farm’s
trainer stepped in. Within a few weeks
of training he was becoming a different horse.
He was greeting me when I came into the barn. Now he is a completely different horse. He has gained his trust back and whatever you
ask he is going to try and please. Thank
you Katrine and Sommersby Farms for saving my horse! You saw his potential and showed everyone
what a gem he truly is!

My daughter started taking English riding lessons at Sommersby in March 2013 for her 10th birthday. It was so great to be back there as I myself boarded my horse at Sommersby about 11 years ago. My daughter learned so much from Katrine in such a short time. I was amazed. My daughter has learned to jump and is learning to perfect her equitation more and more with each lesson. Since that time, we have gotten our own horse and my daughters have the opportunity to ride every day and learn the responsibility of taking care of an animal. We have made so many new friends at Sommersby. It's truly a family friendly atmosphere. My kids absolutely adore going to the barn each afternoon and hanging out with our new friends. Everyone is always willing to help each other with anything that is needed. Our trainer, Katrine, dedicates her days to helping and instructing every lesson client as well as working her own horses on a daily basis. She is always willing to learn new things herself and pass that knowledge along to her lesson clients. We couldn't be happier with her and our barn family.
